Vice President of Government Affairs, Ohio Chamber of Commerce

The Ohio Chamber of Commerce is the state’s leading business advocate and resource.  With seven on-staff registered lobbyists, the Chamber aggressively champions for free enterprise, economic competitiveness, and growth for the benefit of all Ohioans.

PRESENTER BIO

Justin Barnes serves as Vice President of Government Affairs for the Ohio Chamber, working on behalf of Ohio Chamber members in pursuit of the organization’s mission to advance free enterprise, economic competitiveness, and growth for the benefit of all Ohioans. His primary responsibilities include oversight of the Ohio Chamber’s Federal Affairs portfolio, working with Ohio’s Congressional delegation and federal officials. He also serves as a Director of Policy, covering Workforce & Education, Small Business, and Innovation & Technology policy. In this role, he advocates on behalf of Ohio Chamber members to the Ohio General Assembly and state administration officials on issues impacting Ohio’s economy.

Justin previously served for four years as Executive Director of the Ohio Chamber Research Foundation, in which he spearheaded the development of the Chamber’s recently published economic competitiveness study “Blueprint for Ohio’s Economic Future” in partnership with Accenture, among other research projects. The Blueprint lays out a decade-long policy vision for the state’s economic landscape, and recommendations to improve Ohio’s position as a leader on workforce development, economic growth, and enhanced prosperity. Prior to joining the Research Foundation, Justin served as Deputy Policy Advisor and Federal Liaison in the Office of Ohio Governor, where he helped advance federal policy priorities for the state and served as the central point of contact between the Governor’s office and Ohio’s Congressional delegation. He also previously spent six years on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, serving as a Senior Legislative Assistant and Subcommittee Staff Director in the U.S. House of Representatives.
